What a Sad day in America

I saw a man shot today. 
He was speaking his truth.
Trying to teach the youth.
I saw people laughing at a dead man today . 
And I hung my head to cry . 

What a sad day in America. 
What a sad day to be alive .
To watch. Such sadness, while others watched with pride.
This is supposed to be the land of the free.
But no one listens to one another.
It's all about a fight.
And it doesn't matter if you're left, or if you're right.

I saw a woman get shot today.
She thought she was helping.
She thought she was right.
She had no idea this would be the end of her fight.


What a sad day in America. 
What a sad day to be alive .
To watch. Such sadness, while others watched with pride.
This is supposed to be the land of the free.
But no one listens to one another.
It's all about a fight.
And it doesn't matter if you're left, or if you're right.

I saw a woman stabbed today riding the train home from work.
No one helped her.
No one said a word.
She died in vain she died in fear.

What a sad day in America. 
What a sad day to be alive .
To watch. Such sadness, while others watched with pride.
This is supposed to be the land of the free.

It's all about a fight.
And it doesn't matter if you're left, or if you're right.


I heard a man got stabbed today.
He made lots of films.
Lots of happiness because of this man.
But I watched as people laughed. 
People said he got what he deserved.
Because he's beliefs were not like theirs.

This is supposed to be the land of the free.

And it doesn't matter if you're left, or if you're right.

We may not agree with our neighbor that's true. 
But I would never wish harm on you.
 We need to change this much is true. 
How much are you willing to do



Because it's a sad day in America
when we all just hate .
